While a security risk assessment will identify gaps in a business environment, the human element should never be overlooked or assumed to be foolproof. The Baseline Employee Cybersecurity Assessment is delivered via a URL and is made up of a series of questions across six different cybersecurity categories, showing organizations where employees are struggling the most and maybe the most likely to fall victim to a malicious attempt made by cybercriminals.

Cybersecurity Assessment: Focus on Password Hygiene
A password is a key that unlocks the doors – those doors that can lead to collaboration and communication, or it can mean entry to the data and files that you utilize to run your business. And educating users on password hygiene ensures that those very doors aren’t left open or that one key doesn’t unlock every door.
Password hygiene is the way a user’s passwords are created, managed, and maintained – and like most things, there are varying degrees and methods for one to do this successfully. How to create secure passwords, how to protect the passwords that you have in place with authentication, and how do passwords even work? These questions are answered along with identifying password habits among team members that might not be as secure as you’d like them to be.
The questions found in this section of the Baseline Employee Cybersecurity Assessment will address what constitutes a strong password, how to handle requests for passwords, and practices that will keep information – and a business – safe. This is important because compromising a password can happen in a variety of ways. Phone calls, emails, texts, and human error can all factor into the scenario. Once compromised, it doesn’t provide access to just an individual user account, it can, as they say, be the keys to the kingdom when it comes to facilitating identity theft or the breach of a business.
Humans are without a doubt the factor that every business relies on, and password hygiene needs to be understood and emphasized as a way of protecting the vantage point from where those employees sit within an organization. This along with all of the foundations of discovery within the entire six sections of the assessment will be the way that a strong cybersecurity posture will be built.
How To Use the Results
After each employee completes their assessment, the results are recorded along with the overall time taken to complete the assessment. You are then given a report to share with client management that provides the average score across all employees who completed the assessment, as well as their individual scores. The report breaks down each of the six categories to show management where their employees are struggling the most. This new tool changes the way MSPs can show their prospects and clients their human security risks at baseline, helping to highlight the critical need for an ongoing security awareness training program to reduce those risks.
